About
Opened in June 2014, Rustico is a Spanish bar, serving traditional Catalan tapas in modern twist. With furnished brick walls and large windows opening up to a dynamic street view of Lai Chi Kok. Helmed by Spanish Chef Carlos Salvador Asenio, Rustico strives to present an unrivalled dining experience with a taste of Barcelona, one of the most celebrated food capitals of the world.


Executive Chef
Carlos Salvador Asensio
Chef Carlos Salvador Asensio has long been in the culinary scene, after an education at Escola Bell Art, the oldest cooking school in Barcelona.
Launching his cooking career at Can Alfredo, Chef Carlos spent twelve years at this family restaurant, where he learned to make his first paella. Since then, he has managed various kitchens, including Folquer and Neichel, where he had the pleasure of working under Jean Louis Neichel, the first chef to earn a Michelin star for famed restaurant, El Bulli.
In 2012, Chef Carlos transitioned to Moments, another Michelin-starred restaurant located in the lux Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona. After spending 2014 in London to develop a palate for international flavours, Chef Carlos made his move to Hong Kong in 2015 to spearhead Rústico.

Chef Carlos builds an inspired menu featuring rustic dishes that truly offers a survey of Spain, focusing on Spanish grill delicacies, while showcasing the tapas culture, well-loved Spanish cold-cuts, the country’s signature paella, and a variety of main courses that allow diners to indulge in authentically lush Spanish fare.
